The condition of the Ummah is not satisfactory. And, the main reason for that , is that people are abandoning the Sunaah & spreading the innovations.
New forms of innovations are created to remember Allah, even in praying. The impact of the innovations caused to create new religion –this is a calamity. And, all of these are brought in relations with Sufis
- SHEIKH NAZIM NAQSHBANDI TARIQA NAQSHBANDI , Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi etc.These are some of the individuals that carry the platform of Sufism
- Islam is the only religion which has no mysteries or philosophies etc. It is simple. But Sufism is about mysteries/philosophy
- Sufism unlike other sectors of Islam, they do not feel offended if we call them that they are practicing Sufism. And, they call themselves as Sufis. However, we should take note that Sufism is not mentioned in the Quran at all. It is a fabricated word.
- Derivation of Sufism- It comes from the word of Wool.
- They have practice like throwing rocks, stones, pebbles by saying Allahu Akhbar
What’s the big deal about Sufism?
“Every innovation, lead to fire”
It will start in small acts and end up with big calamity. For example, there quotation from a Sufi master saying that “ The Sheikh blesses the Indonesia”. – How can someone put Barakaah except Allah(SWT).Every Sufi master says his way , it’s the correct way. And, by doing so, they are separating the Islam into different sects
The main three categories of Sufim (1 least- 3 worst)
1. Illuminist/school philosophy
-They have practice to strain their soul. They will punish their body to purify their soul.
-They will put themselves in the predicament situation to oppress themselves
-These are the moderate ones compared to 2& 3.
2.Allah Dwell Upon the creations
-This is a methodology from Christians and Hindus
- They will be proclaiming that the person has two spirits. One is him and another one is Allah.
-He will say Subhani instead of SubhanAllah.
-They even claim that Pharaoh is a believer. And, they criticize prophet Haron(AS) for warning his people against praying to the calf .
3. Every existent is Allah
-this is what they say, if you claim otherwise, they will label as the mushriq
-the leader is claimed to the sweetest smell of musk
Cautionary Note:
1)Jamatul Tablig has prevalent practices of Sufism though they are doing good work like making Dawah and bring people to Salah. However, it should also be noted that the source of Jamatul Tabliq is a hard-core sufi. He used to wait in the graves for inspiration to come.
2) You need to have knowledge before making bayan.

!They have different point of view in Tawakul. They believe that Allah is the provider(Al-Razaq), so anyone who is making effort to find a job, he is making a sin. So, they will say that they will wait for Allah (SWT) to provide provision. They say that “they do not like the world”.
!We know that the best prayer is when we are praying thinking that Allah is seeing us. The Sufis will go to the extreme of putting their Sufi Masters images in their minds while they are praying- (Audibillah)
During their innovated dhikr , they will play drums, music dance.They will say “Allah, Allah” as form of dhikr or “Hu,Hu,Hu”. The men and women will dance together. And, they will be swaying each other. –Once, a media coverage took place and the reporter asked the Sheikh “ Isn't this allowed in Islam”. The Sheikh replied back “ These people are in their souls”.This is also very prevalent in Tablig Jamaat.
“Remember Allah, and their hearts will tremble”.
These are the true believer and not by indulging in these kind of acts.Just imagine, if you call someone whose name is Ahmed, repeatedly without any full meaning. He wil take out the shoe and throw on you. This is the concept applied here, instead of Saying SubahanAllah etc(full form) ,by just saying Allah repeatedly, it does not make any sense. It is not part of the Sunnah also.
Other Acts of Sufism:
They will also do stunts which looks they are magicians. And they will pierce with iron rod. In Islam, we do believe that Magic exist. However, at the same time we should take note that magic can only occur with the aid of Jinn and Shaytan.
For the Unseen concept and they claim they know it . If a student who wants to enroll to the Sufism school will go to a Sheikh. And, the Sheikh will say “ I am waiting for you very long”. And, he will start to say about the student’s background etc even without even knowing him at all.All of these are concepts that are mixed with Greek, Hinduism, and other forms. But, they still have nerve to call is at Islam.If you are against them, they will call you as Wahabi. Meaning that if you are not Sufi , you should be Wahabi- this is their belief. This might be because they do not want to lose out their audience.
They have Al-Qasida, etc. Poems which contains shirk. This is dangerous as Zaytuna Institute run by Hamza Yusuf have all these as their lessons. Their poems might consists of words such as lust, desire, usury etc
They have different concept of SAW. They claim that the world and the creations were made for SAW. And, the first light made by Allah is SAW’s light.
They claim that they can see Allah in this life. But ,we all know that the believers can only see Allah in Jannah. This is evident from Musa(AS) asked to see the Allah’s face, and it was not possible.
Side note
Meeting Allah, this should be our ultimate goal. We should have goal to meet Allah during Judgment day. And,this will be the greatest joy.
They claim that they can take knowledge directly from Allah, They claim that the specific hadith (fabricated by them) is straight from Allah.

They celebrate Maulid.
During the gatherings, they will stand up suddenly as respect of SAW arrival( they believe that SAW came to their gatherings)
Visiting Shrines
They will travel long distance to shrine like Shrine of Zaynab in Syria. And, they will make Tawaf. Zaynab may not even be buried there. (lol) The only masjids that were allowed by SAW to travel long distance to worship is Masjid Al Aqsa, Mecca and Medinah.
They are fascinated by specific numbers, or quran ayat. They will hang it on their wails etc.
They have created new way of saying salam to SAW. Instead of “Allahumma solli ala Muhammad waali muhammed” . They have created different way which is not taught by SAW.
Contemporary Sunni practices which follow Sufism and they will not even know it :
1)Congregation DUA
- Everybody make dua after obligatory salah where immah will recite the dua.
-then they will wipe their faces
2)Yaqawi
3) Kissing their thumbs
-100 fabricated narrations supporting this act. They even believe that Adam (AS) did that
4) Reckoning back and forth
-when reciting Quran or making dhikr of Allah.
- these are the Jews concepts and they are the ones who imitate these ideas.
-If it has became habit, it is also possible to stop it.
5) Chanting DUA
-Some scholars have disagreed to chant dua like quran recitation.
6)Wiping the face after DUA
-there is no authentic narration
-SAW never raised his hand after the prayers. We are suppose to make dua without raising the hand after Salah.
-Some ppl go to the extreme of unbuttoning the shirt and blow in the body. This is not the Sunnah of SAW
Sufi Masters:
They believe that even if the sufi masters drink whiskey, the students should not correct their masters. The students should believe that they are drinking other drinks like pepsi. It is because, they are believed that if they do so, they are losing the barakah from the sufi masters.

- Initially Hamza Yusuf was teaching good stuffs until he changed now.
*By pin pointing the names of them , we are not backbiting. Because this is the exceptions of backbiting of Islam. The reason, is that these are ways to prevent people from the threats and harms
*However, we should not pinpoint the Sufis masters or the followers as the Kafir. The reason is that the ones who are follow the Sufism may not have any idea of what they are doing . So, In Shaa Allah, by presenting these evidences, they may change the hearts which is the second objective.
Conclusion
Islam is way that there is no shortcut. We have to strive and struggle but our ultimate reward is greater than our toil.
Sufism introduces shortcuts. Sheikh Nassim says that he will be the one who take the souls instead of angel of Death. He said will whisper the answers from Munkar and Nakir to the souls.
Questions:
1.How to do halal way of building/helping the spirits?
-We should know that we are not machines so we should also help to purify our souls – Tazkiyatul Nafs
- It is done by Sunnah of SAW, whereby listen to the Quran, Give Zakat and Fasting.
But, not by not getting married, or fasting everyday. Or making dhikr for 100 times or 500 times etc. You can make dhikr as many times but it should not be needed to limit to it certain numbers and this is will become innovation.
-Just follow the footsteps of SAW
2.Can we learn Tajweed or Arabic from the innovators?
-No, some ulama did not even wanted to seat with the innovators in gathering when they were approached to recite the Quran. When the students of the Ulama asked him for the reason , he said that “ I was afraid that they might twist the meaning of Allah’s words. And the sickness will remain in the hearts”.
-This method might not be applicable to us now like pushing away the innovators from the gathering as the majority of them are innovators. Instead, we should call them back to follow the Sunnah of SAW.
-And, Allah has sufficed with teachers who are following the Sunnah. So, we should approach them instead of the innovators. And there can be always poison in the cake. And, we will never know that.
3. Make DUA behind Imaam?
-You can say Ameen without raising the hand. The imam should not raise the hand too. And, when saying Ameen say it in low voice instead of screaming or saying it in unison like chanting.
-One of the salaf stopped the Imam when he was making dua by raising his hand.
-The ruling applicable to both genders.
